Junior High Pupils Win Honors For Final Term
Fun was intermingled with seriousness at the last assembly at Bourne Junior High School.
Awards were presented to the outstanding students in several subjects by Principal William F. Butler.
Robert Handy was presented with a certificate for his participation in the annual Science Countdown.
Subject teachers selected the following for awards: Anita Almeida, art; Mary Jo Butler, geography; Susan Barnes, literary; Jayne Mooney, English; Robert Handy, science; Lewis Brackett, history; Mary Tassinari, girls' physical education; Paul Rosenberg, boys' physical education; Margaret McCahill, chorus; Rena Pagliarani, home economics; William Sweeney, industrial arts,
William Sweeney, class president, extended a welcome to the audience.
Sandra Burns led the opening exercises.
The class history was read by Ardean Forsythe, Judith Hemmerly, Thomas Holland and Paul Rosenberg. The prophecy was done by Terry Calland, Rena Pagliarani and Barbara McCann.
Variety numbers were: "Sing Along With Mary" with Karen Prada, Mary Tassinari, Barbara McCann, Barbara Macoratti, Nancy Normile, Frances Bowers, Jayne Mooney and Margaret McCahill, and also songs by "The Boys", Gary Harding, William Sweeney and Harry Bowers. Margaret McCahill, Lizbeth Edwards. Mary Jo Butler, Donna Scott, Barbara McCann, Dwight Bowman. Jane Dawson and David Jackson entitled their act "The Off Beats".
