Formosan Scenes Memorial Service At Tide Club
The Tide Club with 29 members met Monday evening at the Swift Memorial Church in Sagamore.
Sgt. Pierson showed two reels of colored moving pictures of scenery and customs of Formosa.
William R. Crump read a list of the charter members of the club.
Samuel H. Gurney, one of the charter members, gave a talk on the history of the organization.
Two new members were Inducted into the club, Wilfred R. Graves and Dr. Julius G. Kelley.
This being the 19th birthday anniversary of the club formed in 1937, the WSCS served a turkey dinner and presented the group with a large birthday cake.
A memorial service for deceased members was conducted by Chaplain Vernal Phillips. Those remembered were the Rev John M. Trout, Lincoln Crowell, Allison E. Cook, George H. Swift, Samuel Amen, Hal Martin, Chester Crosby, John Stackpole, Edward T. Harwood Nathan Nye, Donald R. Dixon, Judge J. Arthur Baker, William O. Eldridge, Nathan L. Bourne, Rev. Charles S.Thurber and Major Raymond Hemenway.
