Miss Helen Sylvia Harrison And Air Force Officer Married In West Falmouth
Miss Helen Sylvia Harrison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Harrison of Cotuit Road, Bourne and Lieut. Richard Herbert Myers of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania were married Wednesday evening, November 3 in the West Falmouth Methodist Church.
The Rev. J. Gordon Allen performed the candlelight ceremony.
The church, where the bride has been singing, was decorated with candelabra, palms and vases of white chrysanthemums and gladioli. Mrs. Harold Underwood was organist and Mrs. Harold C. Randall of Hatchville was soloist.
In wedding gown of white taffeta with tapered sleeves, bateau neckline outlined with white appliqued flowers and seed pearls and full, long skirt, with a fingertip veil of French illusion caught to a tiara of lace, sequins and seed pearls, the bride carried a bouquet of white orchids with stephanotis and white streamers over her white Bible. She was given in marriage by her father.
Her sister Miss Barbara E. Harrison of Boston chose a ballerina length gown with gold lame bodice and skirt of tulle over taffeta and matching stole and mitts. Her head dress and flowers were bronze chrysanthemums.
The bridesmaids, in ballerina length gowns of rose crystalette with headpieces and flowers of pale yellow chrysanthemums, were Miss Anne E. Harrison of Boston and Miss Ruth A. Myers of Huntingdon Valley, Pa.
Richard Erratt of Westover Air Force Base was best man for Lieut. Myers.
Ushers were Richard Endrushet of Milton and Samuel Speers of Devon, Pa.
Mrs. Harrison, mother of the bride, wore a dior blue tafleta gown, corsage of pink feathered carnations and mauve accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore green velvet suit with black accessories and corsage of yellow feathered carnations.
Attendants at the wedding were entertained at the Harrison home after the rehearsal the night before the ceremony.
The wedding party and families of the bride and groom had a dinner party at the Surrey Room after the reception in the church parlors. About 100 attended the reception, which was prepared and served by ladies of the church. White tapers and white, yellow and bronze chrysanthemums and gladioli decorated the bride's table. Miss Marjorie Jenkins of Pocasset, a classmate of the bride, was in charge of the guest book.
The bride attended Bourne High School and Lowell State Teachers College and was graduated from Florida Southern College at Lakeland, Florida where she sang with the college choir on a concert tour. She taught first grade in Wareham. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education, and the Music Educators National Conference.
Lieut. Myers attended Berwyn High School in Pennsylvania and Drexel Institute of Technology, majoring in mechanical engineering. He has just returned from a tour of duty with the Air Force in Korea. They will make their home in Chicago where he is stationed.
