Miss Carol Studley Is Married To John Alden
Miss Carol A. Studley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin W. Studley of Elm street, Wareham, became the bride of John Alden in a double ring ceremony Saturday morning at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Wareham.
Donald LeBlanc. church organist, played traditional selections and accompanied Mrs. Americano Cherublne of Boston, cousin of the bridegroom, who was soloist. Two large gold vases on either side of the altar held arrangements of pink gladioli and carnations, yellow pompons and white fugi chrysanthemums.
Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a gown of white Imported Chantilly lace over satin designed with a high Sabrina neckline reembroldered with pearls and sequins. The fitted waistline buttoned down the back to a large bow in bustle effect and long fitted sleeves to a point over the hand. Her very bouffant skirt fell over hoops to the floor with a wide scalloped edge. She wore an Egyptian headpiece with pearl drop on forehead, elbow length veil and carried a cascade hand styled arrangement of American Happiness red roses.
Mrs. Albert Riley of Norwich, Connecticut, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. She wore a gown of romance blue silk organza with modified Sabrina neckline, long tapered sleeves and a very full waltz length skirt, with scattered appliques of rose petals. She wore a small crown with nose veil, pumps dyed to match her gown and carried a cascade arrangement of white carnations with blue delphinium and English ivy.
The three bridesmaids. Miss Susanne Studley of Cohasset, cousin of the bride, Mrs. Martin Nomarch of Sandwich and Miss Mary Deneen of Boston, wore gowns identical to that of the matron of honor with swirls of blue feathers In their hair holding nose veils and carried colonial bouquets of white carnations and ivy.
Miss Joan Hutchinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hutchinson of Worcester, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a dress similar to the maids but in ballet blue and carried a small colonial bouquet of white carnations and blue delphinium. Serving as best man for the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Alden of Main street. Buzzards Bay was his brother William C. Alden Jr. of Monument Beach and Willimantic, Connecticut, while their brothers Ernest Alden, Wallace Alden and Frederick Alden, all of Buzzards Bay, were ushers.
One hundred and fifty guests were present at the reception held at the Bourne Mill following the ceremony. Mrs. Studley, mother of the bride, received guests wearing a sheath dress of royal blue silk organza with a small hat of three shades of blue in velvet petals and a corsage of pink Glamellas. Mrs. Alden, mother of the bridegroom, wore Kelley green taffeta with matching accessories and a corsage of pale pink Glamellas.
The bride was attired in a gold suit with mink brown accessories and a corsage of white carnations as they left for a wedding trip to New York City. They will make their home at 84 Elm Street, Wareham.
The couple were honored at a party at the home of the bride's parents for the bridal party and close relatives following rehearsal Friday evening. The bride was also guest of honor at three recent showers, by her matron of honor, by her bridesmaids and one by her aunt in Worcester attended by many of her former friends in that area.
The new Mrs. Alden was born in Worcester, graduated from Seacrest High School at Delray Beach, Florida and the Wilfred Academy in Boston and is employed as a hair stylist at Charles in Wareham.
The bridegroom was graduated from Bourne High School and is employed at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay.
