Post Office Hires Nine For Extra Christmas Help
A total of nine temporary workers, all from the local area, has been hired by Postmaster Maurice R. Savage to assist in handling the Christmas mail load at the Buzzards Bay Post Office.
Mr. Savage noted that, in accordance with regulations, disabled veterans were given first preference in hiring extra help. Of the nine, three are disabled veterans, three are veterans, one is a non-veteran, and two are students.
Five of these workers will be mail carriers, one on each of three city delivery routes, one on the parcel post truck, and one on the truck going to Otis AFB. The other four will be clerks.
Mr. Savage expressed gratitude to Air Force authorities for the lending of an Air Force truck to Buzzards Bay for Christmas mail purposes. As for the expected heavy mail load, it was still a bit early for it Monday, with only one or two Christmas cards going through.
Temporary workers hired are listed as follows:
Robert C. Delancey, Andrew J. McGraw, James A: Saunders, Raymond F. Fitzgerald, G. Roger Pauze, Theodore Musiol, John H. Gray Jr., Richard B. Smith, and John E. Littlewood.
The later two are students at Yale university and Sewanee College, respectively.
