Miss Gibbs Weds Dieter Hans Sigl

Miss Martha Crowell Gibbs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Glbbs of Sagamore, was married September 8 to Dieter Hans Sigl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johann N. Sigl of Falmouth, in the Swift Memorial Methodist Church in Sagamore. The Rev. Vernal C. Phillips performed the ceremony and James G. Atherton of Sagamore played the wedding music. The church was decorated with baskets of gladiolus pompoms, and large chrysanthemums and candleabra with lighted tapers.

The bride was given in marriage by her father and wore a gown with a fitted bodice of Alencon lace over satin, a mandarin collar, accordian pleated yoke of nylon tulle enhanced with tiny lace flowers studded with opalescent sequins and long pointed sleeves.

The full skirt was fashioned with alternating panels of Alencon lace and nylon tulle terminating in a full Cathedral train. The fingertip veil of nylon illusion was attached to a lace half-hat trimmed with seed pearls and rhinestones and a ruffle of nylon accordian pleating. She carried a white Bible covered with roses centered with an orchid, white satin streamers and baby ivy.

Matron of honor was Mrs. Anna G. Brush of Bridgewater, sister of the bride, who wore a princess style iridescent rose taffeta gown, head clips with a nose veil studded with sequins, and carried fugi chrysanthemums and stephanotis with velvet ribbons streamers.

Bridesmaids were Mrs. John Draper of East Wareham, Mrs. Russell Stevens of West Yarmouth, and Miss Ann Marie Peterson of Boston, all nieces of the bride. They wore princess style turquoise taffeta gowns trimmed with gold velvet ribbons and head clips and nose length veils studded with sequins. They carried bronze fugi chrysanthemums and stephanotis with velvet streamers. Miss Cheryl French, niece of the bride, was flower girl. William C. French, nephew of the bride was ring bearer.

John Skalubinski of Woonsocket, R. I. was best man. Ushers were Russell Stevens of West Yarmouth, John Draper of East Wareham, and William Hurrie of Bradford, Pennsylvania.

A total of 200 persons attended a reception in the church parlors following the ceremony. Baskets of gladioli, ivy, and asters were used as decorations.

Out of town guests included persons from Falmouth, Yarmouth, Wareham, Norwood, Medway, Harvard, Lexington, Pennsylvania, and New York.

The bride was born in Sagamore and was graduated from Bourne High School. She was employed as a stenographer in the Sandwich Cooperative Bank, is a member of the Buzzards Bay Grange, a member of the Swift Church Choir and served as superintendent of the primary department in the church school.

Mr. Sigl was born in Munich, Germany, and was graduated from the Oskar Von Miller University in Munich with a B.A. degree in architecture. He served in the United States Army and is presently employed by the Falmouth architect firm of Hellman & Wilson.

The bride wore a princess style dress, short champagne colored jacket with matching hat and brown accessories as a traveling costume.

Following a wedding trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Sigl will live in Falmouth.
