George Cardoza Plants White Pine in Bourne Town Forest

Class of 1961

Falmouth Enterprise, Friday, May 19, 1961, Page 9

Students Plant 5,000 White Pine

Sixteen boys of the industrial arts class of Bourne High School under the supervision of their teacher Frederick Comings, and A. Clayson Tucy of the Town Forest Committee, worked two mornings this week in the Bourne Town forest planting 5,000 seedling white pines, six feet apart. These were planted in an area which some years ago had been burned over and had grown up to dense underbrush. Since this pine is a fast growing tree the planting will produce a nice stand of trees in a few years.

Working on this project were Jayme Archambeault, Ronald Bowman, Charles Dugeau, Van Eaton, Fred Green, Dale Kline, Mike Lodi, Peter McComiskey, James McDermott, Dennis Perry, William Povesis, Ernest Ouelette, George Schuster, Robert Weeks, Ronald Landry, George Cardoza and John Butler.

The school department last year built 30 new picnic tables for the Bourne Scenic Park use and plan to complete another set for use at the parks before the close of the school year.
