Scout Troop 49 Awards Badges
Buzzards Bay Boy Scout Troop 49 has had a busy 10 days starting with a court of honor on May 22 at the new hall at St. Margaret's Church conducted by Scoutmaster Charles F. Tucy Jr.
Awards were presented by Edgar Johnson, local representative.
New Tenderfoot Scouts are Michael Keating. Charles Struible, and Thomas LaBlanc.
Boys who received Second Class badges are Jimmy Wendell, Brock Tucy, Charles Tucy, Michael Zlogar, Richard Riha, Robert Gray, Michael Webb, Louis Tomolonis, and John Stowe.
First Class badges were awarded to Jeffrey Govoni and Ernest De Chene.
The troop attended Camporee the weekend of May 25, 26 and 27 at Crane Wildlife Reservation in Hatchville. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and showed the camping skills they had learned under the tutelage of. their Scoutmaster.
Two patrols won an A rating and the third patrol a B rating.
The Panther Patrol, led by Jeff Govonl, received an A.
Flaming Arrow Patrol, Ernest DeChene, patrol leader, B.
Hawk Patrol. Richard Riha an A rating.
This was the first camporee for most of the boys and their Scoutmaster, Charles F. Tucy Jr., who expressed much pride in their accomplishment and their excellent conduct throughout.
To complete their year, the boys participated in the annual Memorial Day parade at Buzzards Bay.
There will be no more meetings until September.
Three weekend camping trips are planned one each month during the summer.
