Drama Workshop Chooses Comedy As First Production
Adult Drama Workshop members of the Bourne branch, Cape Cod Conservatory of Music and Arts, will present their first production, "Ma's New Husband," a comedy farce by Charles George, on Saturday, January14, at 8 P.M. in the auditorium of the James F. Peebles School.
Featured in leading roles are Olive Spavin of Gray Gables as Mrs. Lottie Dinsmore, a middle aged widow, and William H. Burke of Monument Beach, as her fiance.
The play's situation arises when Mrs. Dinsmore, tired of her routine existence, decides to take a vacation alone at a mountain resort. Here "Ma" meets the man of her dreams in the person of Hercules Hawser, a waiter at the hotel. She returns home to announce to her daughters, Lucy, played by Jeanne Towers, and Marion, by Lola White, the news of her intended marriage. Far from overjoyed at the prospects of having a stepfather, the girls contrive an elaborate plot to prevent the marriage.
