Parents Attend BGS Graduation
School and outside activities were portrayed at last evening's graduation ceremony of Bourne Grammar School. Diplomas were presented by Edwin C. Bradley Jr. of the School Committee. With the backdrop of the stage and murals on the auditorium walls depicting various activities, members of the class described the work of scouts and 4-H clubs, hobbies, and community and school activities.
The Bourne Grammar School Orchestra, directed by Carlton Thorne, played at the start and end of the, program, and the school chorus played. Parents and friends heard Joan Ojala introduce the pupils who spoke. Crystal Campbell was chairman of speakers on the Girl Scout Organization, including Donna Small on history, Ella Eldridge on requirements, Betsy LaChapell on the program, Janice Lewis on insignia, Sally Sandquist on advancement, Mary Ann Bernabei on ceremonies and Crystal Campbell on Senior Girl Scouts. Gary Willey was chairman of speakers on the Boy Scouts: Robert Leonard, Richard Demers, Maurice Harding, Paul Cardoza and Robert Silvia.
John Kayajan was chairman and Edward Leonard, Barbara Besse, William Taylor, Paula Robbins and John Kayajan were speakers on hobbies. Dreena Fernandes, Norma Smith, Frances Pina and Maureen Delaney spoke on aspects of photography.
