August Wedding for Miss Butland
Mr. and Mrs. Donald A. Butland of Old Plymouth Road, Sagamore, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Elva Annetta Butland, to Lieut, (jg) Charles E. Hutchinson of St. Albans, W. Va.
Miss Butland was graduated from Bourne High School with the class of '54, from the New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing and in January from Boston University with a BS degree. She is now a staff nurse with Falmouth Nursing Association.
Her fiance was graduated from St. Albans High School and from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering. While at college he was a member of Naval ROTC, then joined the Navy, was stationed at Long Beach, Calif, and had sea duty aboard an attack transport. In January he joined the faculty of the Massachusetts Maritime academy at Buzzards Bay as a Naval Science instructor.
The couple plan an August wedding at the Swift Memorial Methodist church at Sagamore.
Last summer Miss Butland was one of a group of 20 young men and women who gave their service for the summer, sent by the Universalist church in Boston to three different areas in Germany. One group worked in a refugee camp, the second group worked in a boys home and the third group, in which Miss Butland was working went to a camp In the German Alps.
