George Tinker and Charles Randall Denham Selected to Attend Boys State

Two Juniors Selected to Attend Boys State
George Tinker and Charles Denham are the Bourne High School Juniors selected to attend the annual Boys State at the University of Massachusetts.
George Tinker, son of Major and Mrs. George E. Tinker of Arnold Street, Otis, views his studies seriously and Is taking the college scientific course at high school preparing for college where he will study engineering.
He is enthusiastic about sports and was pleased to win his letter In football here last fall. He is also an active member of the Fathomeers skin diving club at Otis.
Last summer he was presented an award for being the most improved player of the year in the Babe Ruth League at Otis and hopes to play ball there this summer also. Because of his enjoyment of New England and to build muscles for football in the fall, he and two friends plan to take a cycling tour and to travel about 500 miles camping along the way, which they expect to take three weeks to a month before school opens in the fall. He is also active in the Lutheran church in Cataumet.
The Tinkers moved here about a year ago from Miami, Fla., where they had been stationed four years. They have been stationed from one end of the United States to the other and have had two overseas assignments, three years in Edinburgh, Scotland, and three years in Vienna, Austria.
Charles Randall Denham, son of Senior Master Sergeant and Mrs. Carlton A. Denham, was recently inducted as a member of the National Honor Society. He is taking the college course and plans to major in mathematics or engineering. His favorite sports are baseball and bowling.
Chuck and his family moved here last September from Florida where they had been visiting relatives following assignment at Avlano in Northern Italy, about 50 miles from Venice. Previously they had been stationed three years at Tachikawa Air Force base in Japan.
