Half of BHS June Graduates are Bound for College in Fall

Half of BHS June Graduates are Bound for College in Fall
Approximately half of the Bourne High School graduating class are college bound in the fall.
There are 69 graduates, 34 of whom have applied for and been accepted or await acceptance at business, technical or nursing schools, junior and four year colleges and universities.
Neil Minnehan, valedictorian, was accepted by six colleges, three of which are Ivy League colleges. He had chosen Harvard University above Yale and Dartmouth. Holy Cross, Williams and the University of Massachusetts also gave him entrance.
Stephen Lawless, salutatorian, was accepted at Notre Dame, Carnegie Institute of Technology and Worcester Polytechnic. He has selected Notre Dame to Midwest and South.
Several other students were accepted at large universities.
Ralph Best will go to Ohio State University
Judith DeForest will go to the University of Miami
Thomas Gallerani will go to Northeastern University
George Tomlinson and Rodney Valentini will go to Boston University
Judith Kelley will go to the University of Massachusetts
Going to business schools are Gail Ariagno, Steno Type Institute; Carol Crommett, Bay State Academy; Sally Cook and Jean Lamborghini to Becker Junior College; Sally Williams, Fisher Junior College and Janet Willey, Husson Secretarial College.
Norman Bayes will enter Massachusetts Maritime Academy; John Boffetti, East Coast Aero Technical School; Melinda Drew, Massachusetts School of Art; Thomas Kingman, Bryant College; Virginia Peebles, Framingham State Teachers College.
Entering schools of nursing in the fall are Elizabeth Boles and Evelyn Mendes, Cape Cod Hospital; Jeannette Tucker, Sturdy Memorial.
Paul Bousfield has entered the Marines and will finish his high school education in the service.
