Jon R. Cristofori, Student of the Dance
Class of 1963
Falmouth Enterprise, Tuesday, October 16, 1962, Page 9
"A combination of outstanding talent and diligent self application to the development of artistry has brought Jon R. Cristofori to the threshold of a promising career," said Mrs. Jane Gay Stephens of her student Jon Cristofori, a Bourne High Senior.
Jon will begin rehearsals for the Bourne Players production of Carousel in the very near future.
He spent ten rewarding weeks of his summer vacation at Jacob's Pillow, a dance festival and university of dance in Lee. In those ten weeks Jon learned Hindu, Modern, and Spanish dancing besides improving his ballet technique tremendously.
Jon was honored with the second lead in the student production, a modern ballet for men based on Aztec rituals. He happily averaged nine hours of dancing a day. These hours Included rehearsals, practices, and dance instruction classes.
Besides dancing, Jon attended extra curricular classes on Backgrounds of Dance, Pantomime and Dance, and Dance movement. Although he didn't particularly care for Hindu, Jon loved the ballet and enjoyed the classes in modern dance.
Many factors such as his job at the Buzzards Bay Theatre, a scholarship from the Bourne Players, and willing parents made his special summer possible, but Jon feels it might not have happened if it weren't for the encouragement and careful guidance he received from his dance instructor here on Cape Cod.
Some of his roles have been in Aladdin's Wedding, Les Sylphides, The Wizard of Oz, and best of all, Bluebird. Jon has also had lead dance roles in the productions of the Bourne Players which Include South Pacific, Paint Your Wagon, and The Red Mill.
