Black Widow II Unable To Race
Bert Lumpkin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert R. Lumpkin of Bournedale, is shown with his latest soap box derby racer, Black Widow II.
He won the meet in North Dartmouth last August with the racer's predecessor as attested by the handsome trophy in the foreground.
This year Bert ls stymied In his effort to enter a Greater Boston race as sponsors have withdrawn their support of the races. Plans now In the formative stage in the mind's of Bert and his father include staging a derby race at Scusset beach. Bert is quite anxious to find a course for his racer as he will enter high school In the fall and be forced to quit the present competitive stage. Dick Anderson Is also building a racer in the Lumpkin house.
