BHS Faces Regional After Dartmouth Tie

After a scoreless tie against a strong Dartmouth team Saturday, its second of the season, Bourne High School's football team takes on Dennis-Yarmouth Regional school Saturday. Game time is 2:30 at the Laurence B. Jackson Memorial Field.

Coach Lou Bachand's team threw up the same aggressive defense which had stopped Falmouth two weeks earlier to halt a heavily favored Dartmouth eleven.

Typical was the contribution of sophomore defensive lineman Bob Doucette late in the game as Dartmouth held the ball deep in Bourne territory. He broke through the middle of Dartmouth's line and threw a Dartmouth back for a five yard loss. That ended Dartmouth's last offensive and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

In a game in which Dartmouth did most of the attacking, standouts for Bourne were linemen Eddie Watt, Bob Doucette and Gene Sweeney, linebackers Phil Cunningham and David Archambeault and safety man Bob Pipkins.

Sophomore quarterback Bob Franks, replacing injured signal caller Bob Corradi, did a good job in running the quarterback slot for the first time in senior high school. Corradi is expected to be back in action either this Saturday, or next week against Barnstable.
