Eleanor Stahura being coached in the playing of a glockenspiel
Class of 1960
Veterans Posts Give Glockenspiel to Band
Eleanor Stahura of the eighth grade at Bourne Grammar School is being coached in the playing of a glockenspiel by Carlton R. Thorne, music supervisor.
The new instrument is easy for Miss Stahura to learn because its keys resemble those of a piano, which she has been studying for some years.
Mr. Thorne explains that a glockenspiel part is included in all orchestra arrangements and will do much to improve the quality of the Shawme band. It was purchased by the Bourne School Department with funds given to the school band by VFW and American Legion Posts in Bourne.
The school band volunteered its services for the Memorial Day celebrations last May and the money gift was in thanks for this service. The 25 members of the band come from Sandwich High School, Bourne high School, Bourne Grammar School and Sagamore Grammar School.
