Sanford's Hat Is In Ring For Seat in Legislature
Philip T. Sanford of Buzzards Bay, Bourne Selectman, today announces his candidacy for the Republican nomination for state representative from the Upper Cape.
Mr. Sanford said "I have served 14 years as selectman, assessor and member of the board of public welfare of the town of Bourne and have served as chairman of all three boards. I. feel that the experience which 'I have received during this time qualifies me as a candidate for this office.
"I have also served as president of both the Barnstable County Selectmen's and Assessors associations and am presently a member of the Cape Cod Economic Development Advisory Committee.
"I am also an associate member of the Bourne Republican Town committee, a past president of Bourne Kiwanis and a member of veterans and other civic organizations.
Mr. Sanford is 42 years old, father of eight children, and resides at 56 Puritan road, Buzzards Bay. He. has lived in Bourne for over 40 years and is a graduate of Bourne High School.
Upon graduation from high school he joined the staff of the Buzzards Bay Theatre as assistant manager when he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in January 1942.
He was first elected selectman in February 1948, and is presently serving in his fifth three-year term.
