Miss Burgess is BHS Delegate at DAR Convention
Miss Blanche E. Burgess, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Burgess of Bourne was selected by the Senior class members and faculty to represent Bourne High School as delegate at the Good Citizenship Day program of the Daughters of American Revolution in Boston on Wednesday.
Miss Burgess, who has been accepted at Bates College, is president of the National Honor Society at Bourne High School, is managing editor of the yearbook, a member of Code club, was student manager of the girls basketball team this year, is a member of the French Club and has held various class offices. She is also very active in the work of the senior youth fellowship of the Bourne Methodist Church.
Miss Burgess was one of only two in the BHS senior class to receive letters of commendation for a score in the top three percent of the National Merit Scholarship tests taken last April. She plans to prepare at college to teach English.
