Masterson Candidacy Brings Aspirants For Selectman Seat to Six
Latest to enter the competition for the post for selectman at town elections in March is Thomas J. Masterson of Canal View Road, Buzzards Bay.
The son of Thomas Masterson and the late Mrs. Masterson, Tom was born and brought up in Buzzards Bay,
He was graduated from Bourne High School in 1945, entered the Sea Bees and served in the Pacific as Machinist Mate 3c.
Following his discharge he returned to Buzzards Bay and worked first for Carl V. Gardner then on the police department for three years.
In 1949 he started his own oil business.
From 1950 to" 1955 he also operated an appliance business in conjunction with his father's furniture store in Buzzards Bay.
Since 1958 he has also operated a heating business, and employs five persons. His office is in the Gidley building on the West Rotary at Buzzards Bay which he owns.
He bought an eight acre piece of land, the former Bishop Anderson property adjoining Queen Sewell at Buzzards Bay, which was divided into 25 lots on which he had 14 houses built under contract and sold the remaining lots. This project involved putting in roads and utilities.
He is married to the former Miss Elizabeth Downey of Buzzards Bay, also a graduate of Bourne High school. They have three children. Mary, 6, is in the first grade, Thomas is four and Ann is 18 months old.
