Bourne Nine Opens 11 Game Season
Four holdovers from last year's 8-4 season will pace freshman coach Lou Bachand's first season at Bourne High School. Coach Bachand fashioned a 12-3 season in '56, his final year as head baseball coach at.Case High, Swansea.
Yesterday the Bourne nine opened their 11 game schedule against Orleans who dropped their season's opener to Barnstable.
Coach Bachand calls pitching the biggest question mark for the coming season.
The team has been hampered by bad weather and took to the diamond yesterday with only two weeks of outdoor practice.
Twenty five hopefuls turned out for the squad, "a good turnout for a school this size," says the coach. Seventeen have been retained. Remaining from last season are Paul Cardoza, catcher, Bob Cahoon, short stop, Rodney Valentini, third base, and Phil Curry, second base.
