Bourne High Valedictorian
Miss Joan Ojala, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kusti Ojala of Shore Road, Bourne will graduate from Bourne High School next week as Valedictorian of her class. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years.
Some of her extra curricular activities include being managing editor of the Canal Currents school yearbook; Vice-President of the Athletic Association to which she has belonged four years; Manager of the girls basketball team for two years; member of the Special Chorus and participation in the Cape Cod Music Festivals; and a member of the cast of her Senior class play.
She attained the curved bar in Girl Scouts and has been very active for eight years in 4-H Club work, which included being three times Barnstable County Winner in sheep, poultry and gardening.
Miss Ojala has been accepted at Pembroke College, Brown University at Providence, R.I. where a scholarship has been awarded her. She plans to major in chemistry.
