Canal Currents Wins Top Place in Columbia Contest
The 1960 edition of Canal Currents Yearbook of Bourne High School has been awarded first place in the annual nationwide competition for yearbooks held by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association run by the Journalism Department of Columbia University. The award-winning Bourne book scored a 965 out of a possible 1,000 points. This competition Is categorized by school style.
Stuart Jones, social studies teacher and senior class and yearbook advisor, announced the honor and stated that the framed certificate will be placed in the school. A ranking booklet showing where the book did well and where it missed points has also been received by Mr. Jones.
Editor of the winning book was Ray Toler, managing editor was Blanche Burgess and business manager was Judy Gaddy. Editor of this year's book is Ed Moxon with Sue Lively as managing editor and Ken Nelson as business manager.
