Donald H. Long Elected President of Bourne High Alumni Association

Donald H. Long of Sagamore Beach was elected president of the Bourne High School Alumni association at its annual meeting Saturday evening in the cafetorium of the new Bourne High School.

Other officers elected during the business meeting conducted by John B. Jenkins, outgoing president, were Charles F. Tucy Jr., vice-president and Mrs. Louis D. Pappi, the former Miss Judy Sorenti, secretary, Mrs. Beatrice Williams of Cataumet was re-elected treasurer and Mrs. Sumner Braley, membership chairman. Mrs. Sidney Scott (Barbara Harris) will be program chairman and Mrs. L. Edward DeGagne and Mrs. Jan Pooler, (Janetta Stockley) of Hyannis, publicity.

Mrs. Williams reported on the scholarship fund and introduced Miss Blanche Burgess and Miss Hazel Harding, both of Bourne, who received the first scholarships in 1960 and Kenneth Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Nelson (Dorothy Ryan, class of 1938) of Buzzards Bay who received the scholarship this year. Kenneth will enter Marietta college at Marietta, Ohio, where he plans to major in languages and enter the teaching profession.

Oldest member attending was Henry B. L. Dimmick of Cataumet, of the class of 1888. Moment of silence was held in memory of William E. C. Perry, president of the Buzzards Bay National Bank and a member of the class of 1911, who had planned to attend this meeting.

A tour of the building was enjoyed by all. Refreshments were served and while Mel Von's Orchestra played for dancing, many of those attending visited with friends and former classmates at the tables set in cabaret style around the room.
