Instructor and Successful Students of Driving Class

Young people of Bourne showed their determination in a good cause this summer when they overcame obstacles to organize and complete the prescribed driver education courses.

Parents started the effort to get driver training for the June graduates.

There was no car, were no instructors and, in summer, no time. The prospective drivers didn't give up. Through the kindness of Joseph Labretto of the Buzzards Bay Garage, a car was forthcoming. William E. Delaney of the police force and George Grinder, retired Air Force sergeant, were approved as instructors.

As of Aug. 1, time remained the last problem. In spite of summer jobs, the youngsters all put in two hours an evening, for five nights a week for three weeks. They worked in their road instruction early and late. Only two did not make the final examination.
