Cheerleaders Marshaling School Spirit For Team
Bourne High School Cheerleaders, under supervision of Paula Hadley, are going all out this season in an effort to boost school spirit to an all time high. No matter where you turn in the Bourne High corridors, you'll see some form of poster starring you in the face to tell you that no matter which Cape town our football team plays, it needs our support to insure a victory.
One of the newer artistic works contributed to the student body is a huge rectangular mural: hanging on the wall in front of the gymnasium. Pictured on this poster is the form of a ship sailing on the water. At the top of one of the masts a different flag is placed each week, bearing the name of whatever team dares to meet Bourne face to face the following Saturday on the gridiron. The ship was excellently drawn by Vail Paglarani. Under the opponent's ship are huge "purple waves" which, oddly enough, represent the Bourne Canalmen. The idea expressed by this poster is that no matter who the opponent is, the Purple Wave will bring him down in defeat. No matter how large the ship may appear, it hasn't a chance in the Bourne current.
Unfortunately the Bourne current wasn't as strong as it should have been last Saturday, when the Canalmen suffered an upset at the hands of the Falmouth Clippers, but that bit of bad luck will all be changed next week, and the weeks to come. With such support behind us, how can we do anything but win?—Susan H. Pierce
