B.H.S. Junior Chosen As Miss Cranberry Highway

A Bourne High School junior, 16 year old Miss Eleanor Stahura of Lincoln Avenue, Buzzards Bay is Miss Cranberry Highway 1959.

Miss Stahura's selection is announced by Robert S. Fugere of Wareham. president of the Cranberry Highway Associates. This organization is working for legislation to make official the name Cranberry highway along Route 28 from the Middleboro traffic circle to Buzzards Bay, along the Cape Cod Canal to Sagamore and then over Route 6A to Orleans.

"Miss Stahura was chosen as a result of an informal canvass," said Mr. Fugere. "She is a wholesome, typical American girl who will be a splendid Miss Cranberry Highway at the many functions we plan this year.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Stahura. Her father is principal of Bourne High School; "I think l am an average teenager," said Miss Stahura today. "I am interested not only in my school subjects but also in the extracurricular activities, especially those pertaining to sports and music. "I enjoy playing the piano for the Shawme Orchestra and also serving as accompanist for the school chorus.

I have played on our high school girls basketball team for three years. This year I am a member of our newly organized French Club in school.

"Outside of school, I enjoy musical and sports activities. I take voice lessons at the Cape Cod Conservatory in Hyannis. In the summer, one of my favorite pastimes is swimming.

Much of my weekend is devoted to church, for not only am I a member of the choir but also I teach a Sunday school class at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

"Now in my junior year in high school, I am thinking about plans for my future. I hope to go on to college where I can prepare myself to be a high school teacher.
