Diplomas Are Awarded To Bourne High Class of '61
Class of 1961 of Bourne High school assembled for the last time last night, and a gymnasium full of spectators saw Its formal graduation. This was first commencement held at the new high school.
Shawme orchestra played for the procession in and out. The combined chorus sang and was accompanied by the orchestra ln two numbers. The Rev. Richard Lenehan gave the invocation and benediction. Edwin Moxon of the graduating class gave the .welcome, and Miss Susan Lively read the class farewell. Duane Reynolds read the class ode and Duane Reynolds for the graduates and Clarence Franks of the junior class jointly handled the class gifts.
Commencement speaker was Col. Ernest J. White, Otis commander. Edwin . C. Bradley, school committee chairman, presented the diplomas.
After the ceremony, there was an informal party as the Mashnee Village club for the graduates and their guests, organized by a group of parents. Music was by the Lennie Barnes ensemble. Tom Hogan and the Rev. J S. Stephenson and John Stephenson entertained. There was a late supper, dancing and swimming at the party, which continued from 11 to 3.
