School Honors Two Students
Katherine Merritt and Ruth Avery Hold Class Honors at Bourne High.
Katherine Merritt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Merritt, Cataumet and Ruth Avery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Avery, Pocasset, have been named as honor students at Bourne High School in the class of 1931, Miss Merritt to be valedictorian and Miss Avery salutatorian.
Miss Merritt's mother, Mrs. Myra C. Merritt is a teacher at Teaticket. Principal Kempton J. Coady announced the two honor winners at assembly Monday morning, March 16th. Both girls were honor pupils last year.
Miss Merritt will not be 15 years of age until June, while Miss Avery is 16.
Mr. Coady also named six other honor pupils including Doris Bellamy, Monument Beach; Rodney Howard, Pocasset; Marguerite Palmer, Sagamore; Rachel Bourne, Monument Beach; George Sempos, Sagamore; Marguerite Crabe, Buzzards Bay. Miss Crabe has a record of perfect attendance during the entire high school course.
