The body of Scott Loeding, 25, Mapleview, was recovered by authorities Friday afternoon, three-fourths of a mile down-stream from the Ramsey Dam on the Cedar River, according to Mower County Sheriff Wayne Goodnature.
Loeding had been missing since March 31 after a canoe he and a companion were in tipped over near the dam.
Two sheriff's deputies on search patrol recovered the body on the river directly behind Austin's Northeast Utilities Plant at 2:52 p.m. The body was found floating upright in the water.
Loeding, 1903 17th St. SE, Rochester, formerly of Mapleview, is survived by Sandra Loeding; three brothers Richard, Austin, David, Pusan, Korea, Steven, Mapleview; a sister, Heidi, Menomonie, Wis., father, Richard Loeding, Bellevue, Wash.; grandmothers, Mrs. Gertrude Loeding, Arizona; Mrs. Marcella Wentzel, Mapleview aunts; uncles, cousins.
