Katherine was known by friends and family as Kat, and she passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family.
Born on February 14, 1952, this Valentines Day baby was the fifth of eight children born to Katherine and Eugene Heimer in Austin, Minnesota.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Thurgood; her children, Joshua Bates, Heath Bates, Kiley Bates and her stepchildren, Candice Duer and Ryan Thurgood.
Kat is remembered most for her profound love for her family, her creativity, and her amazing sense of humor. She is sweetly remembered by her grandchildren, Arzel, Michaela, Stout, Kieran, Ivy, Angela, Tony and Emma, who lovingly call her Nanny.
Kats family would like to thank River Oaks Church, her Bible study group, Mary and Lori, and their friends and family for the years of care, support and love.
