Donald C. LaBelle, 87, of Zion, IL passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan.
Donald was born on March 30, 1930 in Zion, IL to the late Victor and Dorothy LaBelle. He graduated from Zion-Benton High School in 1948 and Wheaton College in 1952. In 1975, he married Patricia Luce. In his youth he attended Zion Bible Church, with whom he served at the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago. As an adult he attended Christ Community Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, board member, youth leader, member of the church choir, cast member of the Zion Passion Play and chaplain at Camp Zion in Door County, WI. Donald was the owner of Reed Randle Tractors, a member of the Waukegan Exchange Club, and served on the Zion school board. Donald committed a large part of his life to singing at weddings, funerals and other special events over the years. He even sang the national anthem at a Chicago White Sox baseball game. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears.
Donald is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia; children, Becky (Steve) Veith, Jeff (Nancy) Bicket, Jill (Bill) Capp, Jack (Jeanette) Bicket, Jann (Mike) Savre, Doug (Kris) LaBelle, Dean (Susie) LaBelle, Marla (Scott) Serdar and Judi (Lonnie) Castillo; 31 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brother, Clifford ‘Kip’ LaBelle; sister, Lorene Palmer and daughter-in-law, Sandy (Peter) Reese.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rob LaBelle and brother, Victor LaBelle.
