Started out a Seaman Recruit E-1 in 1974. Spent two years active duty and then 13 years in the reserves in order to get monies to pay for education. Spent 5 years in medical school and while and intern in the army reserves and ended up being the only Anesthesiologist in the history of the Kentucky National Guard. Resigned my commission in July 1989 just weeks before Saddam Husein invaded Kuwait and all medical personnel were put on hold. I was in the military from the end of Viet Nam to the start of dessert shield. A peace time soldier and sailor could not have planned it any better if I had ouija board for guidance. Finished as an O-3, Captain, in the Kentucky Army National Guard.
