| About Me | i am now retired from the u.s. postal service. i started out working in a letter factory. i worked there 5 years, then quit to travel. i went on a 2 month cross country trip and then to britian for 3 weeks, and western europe for 3 months. after finding a phone booth in amsterdam that let you call wherever you wanted for free, and calling everyone in my phone book saying hi i'm in amsterdam, i got homesick and came home within three days. my 90 day eurail pass was in it's last day too. i now wish i had stayed in europe longer. i then tried teaching; i have a B.S.degree in elementary education. i did some substitute teaching, then got a full time job one september, and quit by thanksgiving. the kids were ok, it's the adults, the administration and some parents, i couldn't hack. i decided to go back to the postal service for more money and less stress. i worked in the falls church post offices as a window clerk, box mail clerk, then the accounting technician for 5 years. i also served as the chief shop steward for falls church, and treasurer for the n va apwu. i then transferred to the u.s.p.s. national test administration center, where they processed all the entry and inservice postal service examinations. i decided i needed to do something to make more money, so i went to law school at night. i was also interested in gaining knowledge of the law. after 4 years of doing virtually nothing but working 40 hours a week, going to school at night, and reading and studying every spare moment, i finished law school, passed the bar, and transferred to the office of counsel for the chief postal inspector. i worked in that office for 17 years; i was the program specialist for their electronic surveillance program and special ie national security mail covers program, ie lots of legal paper work. after a total of 32 years of working for the postal service i retired and now i can live life as it was meant to be lived, free to do what i want, when i want. i tend to stay up late, and get up late. i need a clock only to tune into my favorite tv shows on time. life is good. if only i knew then, what i know now, there are a few things i would have done differently - mostly having to do with men. --------------...(read more) |
