If memory serves me correctly, Richard passed away prior to the end of the 1971 school year at Woodside.
Richard was a Cross Country running teammate of mine, a year behind me in school.
The circumstances of his death, from what I still recall, had to do with falling from his bicycle somewhere in the upper reaches of Woodside, near the Skyline Boulevard. When losing control of his bike, he sustained fatal head injuries from the fall. This was back in an era prior to protective head gear for bicyclists
There was a memorial service held for him that his running teammates attended. I didn't feel up to attending that service.
When I last visited the WHS campus 10 years ago, I saw where there was a plaque at the base of a planted tree in memory of Richard.
