Classmate Memories

Scott Rayer '72 said:

Sharon made the Varsity Cheerleading squad as a 11th grader, the Junior class (9th grade Freshman; 10th grade Sophomore; 11th grade Junior; 12th grade Senior), which given that era, it was unique for a Junior class-person to land that position, as it was generally assumed to be the domain for 12th grade seniors making the five-member Varsity cheerleading squad.
I vividly recall a Varsity basketball game Sharon cheered in when the ref made what the Woodside fans felt was an unfair foul call on a Wildcat player. The thunderous protesting boos from the fans had Sharon reacting with a look of fear, whereupon she tried to quell the hostility, among those in the bleachers, with motioning her hands in a downward expression, as expressing to calm-down. That was repeated several times during that basketball game.
