Electronics Technician, injured seriously while awaiting orders for deployment to Vietnam. Lost 1st wife in the incident, and suffered life-long injuries after a miraculous recovery following 8 months in Naval hospitals. Forced into medical retirement with honorable discharge.

My unit spent part of our time in “war torn” Baltimore during the riots. Martial law had been declared and it was very weird having to guard our businesses and property from out of control rioters. Hope this never happens again. Also spent about a year assigned as an aggressor to help train our Special Forces in guerilla warfare prior to them being shipped out to Vietnam.
