Fred Bedell relocated as a rising senior to the San Francisco area. He was a superb trumpet player, of symphony caliber. Below are citations and alumnus comments from his California high school class of 1970 reunion, Amador Valley:
Bruce Anglin:
I remember Fred was one really cool, friendly guy. As I recall I think he died a very long time ago. If my memory is correct, as a part of the great band we had, Fred did a trumpet solo at our graduation, the National Anthem I think. I will have to check my notes, the day after we all graduated I wrote a LOT of notes of things I observed on our grad night. Maybe I'll share if they are interesting.
Rex Toltschin:
Fred Bedell, Mr Smiles! What a Smile he always had, and always a kind word to say to anyone and everyone.
In Memory (date of death):
1974

Fred's father, Max, was a highly decorated WWII Air Force pilot (combat air medal, 39 missions with silver and bronze clusters with two stars) who continued on to be a commercial airline Captain, and officer in the Airline Pilots Association union. The national union officer position was the reason Fred relocated out to California.
