About Patrick Edward Cain, age 86, passed away on July 29th in Palm Harbor Florida. Pat was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many throughout his lifetime. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his children Douglas (Stephanie), David (Joanne), Heidi Bowbin (William), Dennis, Holly Turkington, Dale (Cindy), nine grandchildren, Samantha (fiancée Jamie), Danielle, Douglas, Lauren, William, Timothy, Elyse, Joshua, Kiersten, his sister, Rose Ann Winkel (Alfred) and many nieces and nephews.

Patrick was born in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on April 1, 1930 on the Cain family dairy farm. He attended grade school in St. Anna, and high school in Kiel, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for one year, and received his bachelor’s degree in Education at Illinois State University in 1953. Patrick was drafted into the US Army after his junior year in college, served for two years in Germany, before returning to Illinois State to complete his degree.He was a proud veteran and member of the American Legion Post #187 in Elmhurst, Illinois. Patrick’s first teaching job was at a junior high school in Mount Carroll, Illinois. He then went on to teach for three years at York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. When Willowbrook High School opened,Patrick found his home and spent the next 31 years there,teaching physical science and drivers’ education, and coaching football and girls’ basketball. He received a Willowbrook High School Distinguished Service Award in 2011.

Patrick married Patricia Cole on August 16, 1958 at St. Alexander’s Catholic Church in Villa Park, Illinois. Pat loved being involved in his community and proudly served for 12 years as a Villa Park Police Commissioner. He enjoyed fishing in the wilds of Canada with his sons and friends. Patti and he moved from Elmhurst to Highland Lakes, in Palm Harbor, Florida in 2008. There he joined a men’s golf league, became a pontoon boat captain, and volunteered at various PGA tournaments. He was a member of the Pinellas Police Auxiliary and served on the County Election Committee. He joined the St. Ignatius of Antioch Knights of Columbus and soon after earned his Fourth Degree. Pat loved football, golf, the Bears, and the Cubs!

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 16th,at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, 715 East Orange Street, Tarpon Springs, Florida.There will be a visitation in Illinois on Saturday, August 27th, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 South Ardmore Avenue, Villa Park, Illinois. A burial ceremony will be held on Monday, August 29th, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 West Hoff Road, Elwood, Illinois.
