About The generous, kind and beloved physical education and driver education instructor passed away too soon at the age of 58.
Challenged with (and overcoming) dyslexia in his early youth, Orv was a successful athletic coach and entrepreneur (including an over 3-yr. stint as a full-time Chicago Mercantile Exchange Trader), as well as a terrific educator, who impacted many students lives at WB, and in the local community.

Orv was a Detroit native. His family moved to the Oak Park, IL when he was nine. He graduated from the academically rigorous Bradley University in 1967, financing his education on a full track scholarship, while also performing as a running back on the football team.

A quote from his Chicago Tribune Obituary: He was a champ in every way--a remarkable man who did more for so many kids than anyone I know, said Ned Colletti, a longtime friend and the assistant general manager for the San Francisco Giants.

A college scholarship was been created in his honor. Applicants must have demonstrated an optimistic outlook on
life, involvement in extra-curricular activities, a showing respect for their peers and adults and serving as a friend to those in need.
This description very much sounds like the Orv Wilkin we all knew and admired.
