Class of 1968
Apr 28, 1950 - Jul 21, 2025
Roger Alan Hallmark, 75, of McConnelsville, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 21, 2025.

Born on April 28, 1950, to the late Fredrick and Ora Lee Hoffman Hallmark, Roger lived a life rooted in service, music, and family.

A proud graduate of Willowbrook High School in 1968, Roger was a member of the National Honor Society. He continued his education at the University of Illinois, where he played in the Symphonic Band and was honored with the prestigious A.A. Harding Award for bands in 1972. He earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music Education from the university.

Answering a deeper calling, Roger later earned a Master’s in Religious Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. His faith led him to serve as the minister to the deaf and orchestra leader at Greystone Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina. He also served as orchestra leader and Deacon at Green Pines Baptist Church, where he founded the beloved “Radiance” Saxophone Quartet.

Roger’s passions extended beyond the pulpit and the podium. He found great joy in restoring muscle cars with his son, sailing with his family, and combing beaches with a metal detector. A skilled craftsman, he also loved restoring saxophones and other musical instruments.

Above all, Roger cherished his family. He was deeply proud of his children, Ryan and Claire, and delighted in every moment spent with his grandchildren: Reese, Kate, William, and Emma.

Roger is survived by his devoted wife, Lynette Pierdinock Hallmark, and his sister, Judy Hallmark Langan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Hallmark.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, July 31, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Tom Barton. Roger will be laid to rest in Stockport Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church of McConnelsville
