Richard M. Kamm, Ed.D.

Class of 0

Dick Kamm was perhaps the most revered band director in Willowbrook history. He maintained a perfect record of state superior ratings with multiple performances (by initivation only) to the IMEA state music conference. His bands (and their student members) received the attention of such national band legacies as Dr. Harry Begian (of the University of Illinois) and Dr. William Revelli (of the University of Michigan). A recording of Dick's work as a director of an Illinois Summer Youth Music concert band can be found in the University of Illinois (national) Sousa Archive collection.

After receiving his doctorate in educational administration from the University of Illinois, he left Willowbrook to embark on a long career as Superintendent of Schools for District 94 in West Chicago. The school library has been dedicated in his name.

Dick is still active as an educational consultant with the Institute of Strategic Learning (a consulting firm headquatered in Naperville, IL). He is a chapter author in the book: Leadership in the Secondary School as well as the Design Handbook, a guide to organizational change. He has also co-authored, with John C. Redding, several articles on strategic (educational)planning.
