Richard ‘Moore

Class of 1964

When I was in Vietnam in 1966 I was with the 4th Marines at a place called Con Thien which was right at the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) bordering North Vietnam.

I looked up one day and right before me was fellow ‘64 William Chrisman graduate Bill Hollaman. Here we were on the other side of the world discussing home.

I didn’t know Bill was in the Marine Corps let alone being in Vietnam. Bill was in “Naval Gunfire” directing fire from Navy ships in the waters off Vietnam to designated areas supporting the Marines operating in the northern provinces.

We visited about 20 minutes before he had to move out. That was the last I saw of him. I know he wasn’t killed in Vietnam thankfully.
