Coy Tillman "Tim" Bowling Sr., 73, of Roanoke, Va. passed peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, September 5, 2026.



Tim was born in Roanoke, Virginia on December 19, 1952, son of the late Coy Bowling and Elva Boothe Bowling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rennis Bowling; brother-in-law, John Royer, Jr.; nephew, Aaron Royer; sister-in-law, Mary Beth Dempsey; and he is celebrating in Heaven with his beloved daughter, Melissa Ann Bowling.



Tim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Deborah Royer Bowling; son, Tillman Bowling (Lauren); and granddaughter, Allison Bowling. Other surviving family members include aunt, Eunice Ingram; aunt, Hazel Bowling; sister-in-law, Diane Norris; brother-in-law, Robert Royer (Diane); life-long friend, Lonnie "Huck" Turner; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special friends.



Tim graduated from William Byrd High School where he was a basketball star. He received his bachelor's degree in political science from Concord College and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Following college, he worked at Basham Oil and later was named President of Roanoke Oil where he worked until his passing. He liked to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles, horses, sports, music, trivia, going to car races, taking boat rides, and visiting family at the farm.



The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Bonsack Baptist Church on Cloverdale Road in Roanoke, Va., followed by a 2 p.m. Celebration of Life service.



In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United for Impact Fund at Bonsack Baptist Church.
