Earnestine Cooper Peters, 84, of Roanoke, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Peters; her parents, Earnest and Daisy Cooper; and her siblings, Martha Ransom, Phyllis Hunter, Patsy Harris, Henry Cooper, and Marvin Cooper.
She is survived by her son, Marvin Bruce Peters; her sister, Nancy Draper; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Earnestine worked as a bookkeeper for American Brokerage for several years and later as a claims processor for the Veterans Administration. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, spending time on her porch appreciating nature, and caring for her pets.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Berkshire Health & Rehab Center, the RMH Hospice team, Dr. Stewart, and her sister, Nancy Draper, for the compassionate care and support they provided to Earnestine.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Pastor Bob Hetherington will officiate. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cooper's Cove Baptist Church in Hardy, Virginia.
