It is with heavy hearts, but profound gratitude for a life well-lived, that we remember Carol Thrasher Bundy, who passed away peacefully in the comfort of home in the early morning hours of July 1, 2026. Carol leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness rooted in her faith, devotion to family, and complete generosity of spirit that touched anyone lucky enough to meet her.

Born in Roanoke, Virginia, on November 30, 1956, Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Marshall and Mary Frances Thrasher, and younger sister to Mary Lynn Malone. She graduated from William Byrd High School in 1975 where she excelled academically and as a member and a captain of the cheerleading squad. After earning an associate's degree, Carol went on to build a successful career in I.T. project management and disaster recovery, working at General Medical, McKesson General Medical, Capital One, and IBM. Throughout her career, Carol built a reputation as an excellent and motivating leader who cared deeply for her team members.

In 1979, Carol met the love of her life, Kevin Bundy. Carol and Kevin married on April 16, 1983, and they were later blessed with two, beautiful children, Kelly Bundy and Steven Bundy, both of whom brought immeasurable pride and joy to her life. Carol loved being a mother above all else. She cherished creating one-of-a-kind Halloween costumes for her children, cheering them on at swim meets, enjoying family vacations at Disney World and Myrtle Beach, and above all enjoying all of the small, day-to-day moments with her children and family.

Carol never met a stranger. Whether meeting someone for the first time or reconnecting with a lifelong friend, she had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, special, and loved, and she could make friends anywhere. This gift extended to four-legged friends. For many years, Carol served as a devoted volunteer at Richmond Animal League, often opening the family home to foster cats and their kittens. She was both a cat and dog lover, having many pets throughout her life and carrying a special place in her heart for her "fur babies."

Carol is preceded in death by her mother and father, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, and a number of fur babies who we know all greeted her when she went home to the Lord - Miss Kitty, Tiki, Calico, Mungojerrie, Mistoffelees, Willy, Pele, Amelia, Jewel, Paris, Shadow, and Dempsey, to name a few. Carol is survived by her husband Kevin, her daughter Kelly, her son-in-law Joseph Cujas, her son Steven Bundy, her sister Mary Lynn Malone, her sister-in-law Sue Moore, her brother-in-law Stephen Bundy and his wife Andrea, a gaggle of nephews, and her two fur babies, Bailey and Chase.

Despite a brief battle with Alzheimer's, Carol's deep love for her family never waned, a testament to her deeply loving and nurturing nature. Though her passing leaves a devastating void, Carol's enduring legacy will live on through her family for generations to come. The love she gave so freely shall remain woven into the hearts of all who were blessed to call her wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Thank you for loving us so well. We will miss you beyond measure.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Bliley's-Central (3801 Augusta Avenue) in Richmond, Virginia. The family will begin to receive visitors at 10:15 A.M., and the memorial service will begin at 11:00 A.M., followed by a reception at Richmond Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richmond Animal League, www.ral.org, or the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org, in memory of Carol.
