Billy G. Blake, 72, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Ellen Spradlin Blake on June 18, 2007, his parents, Russell and Vivian Graham Blake and a brother, Jay Blake. Bill retired from Sears and Roebuck after 38 years of service, was a Deacon at Enon Baptist Church, a Mason and mostly a wonderful husband, great dad and grandfather that will be missed dearly. Those left to celebrate his life and mourn his loss are his children, Billie Blake Hurd and husband William "Billy" Paul Hurd, Bonnie Blake Woodring and Donnie Metcalf, Cyndi Blake Quinn and husband, Thom Quinn, Brian Graham Blake and wife, Donna; grandsons, Cameron Michael Hurd, Dustin Paul Hurd, Corey Blake Woodring, Bryce Graham Blake, Seth Mason Blake; sisters, Joann B. Moyer, Doris B. Brugh; mother-in-law, Kathryn L. Spradlin; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Evelyn Blake and Becky and Albert Hupp. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 4504 Starkey Rd. Suite 115, Roanoke, VA. 24014. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Rd. by the Rev. Dan Scott and Rev. Mike Jones. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2007 at Simpson Funeral Home, 366-0707.
