Robert D. (Bob) Ellis, 73, of Salem, passed away January 29, 2008. He worked for 26 years at William Byrd High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lillian Ellis; brothers, James, Billy, Herbert, and Ralph; and sister, "Sis" Lee. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Doris (Naff) Ellis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Jane Ellis, Florida, and Eddie and Ivy Ellis, Roanoke; sisters and brothers-in-law, Minnie and David Byrd, Vinton, Doris and Harry Worrell, and Shirley Hess, all of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Salem Chapel on Thursday, January 31, 2008, 11 a.m. with Mr. Roy Miller officiating and Sabrina Thompson, musician. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Church of Christ Building Fund, 401 West Main Street, Salem, Va. 24153. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.
