Donald Lee Woodford, 72, of Troutville, Va. passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018. He was born on December 15, 1945, in Lynchburg, Va. Donald is survived by his son, Randall Woodford; sister-in-law, Rose Woodford; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Diane Oliver; his sons, Sherman and Brandon; his parents, Ellen and Arthur Woodford; sister, Joyce Dalton; and brother, Sherwood Woodford. Donald attended William Byrd High School before serving in the Army. After his service, he worked for C&P Telephone and then Bell Atlantic. An avid fisherman, a boating accident in March of 1988 left him as a paraplegic. Despite the many sufferings this caused, he remained upbeat and redirected his energy into woodworking, birdwatching, and watching sports. He will be greatly missed, but we are comforted knowing that he is now with all of the loved ones he has lost in recent years. A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor Michael L. Grooms officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM at Oakeys East Chapel.
