Rosie Stovall Hogan, 94, of Roanoke went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully in her sleep on Monday, February 13, 2023. She was a 1948 graduate of William Byrd High School and continued her education at Radford University where she earned her Bachelors Degree. Rosie was a long time member of Belmont Baptist Church, where she served and worshipped the Lord. Rosie was a retired Roanoke County Elementary School teacher at East Vinton Elementary, which is now Herman L. Horn Elementary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis F. Hogan; daughter, Betsy Hogan Weaver; eight brothers and sisters.
Rosie is survived by her children, Linda Dore and her husband, Bob, Jim Hogan and his wife, Cathy, Mark Hogan and his wife, Sandra; son-in-law, Alvin Weaver; eight grandchildren, Amanda Wright (Jeb), Daniel Dore (Felicia), Matt Hogan (Kellea), Whitney Pierce (Tommy), Bryan Hogan, Callie Hogan, Derek Rivers (Angela), Nathan Rivers (Kayse); 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and loving staff at Harmony at Pheasant Ridge, the many care givers and Good Samaritan Hospice for all their care shown to Rosie.
A private family service will be held on Friday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Oakeys Vinton Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Children Hospital in memory of Rosie.
